The 30 years old American professional Cyclist, Tyler Farrar, has joined the MTN-Qhubeka team which is a South African professional continental team.
Though he has joined a new team, Farrar has not changed his main target which is becoming the winner of Cobbled Classics races. Farrar’s joining the South African team is being considered as the beginning of a new phase in the professional career of the American rider.
Tyler Farrar previously used to ride for the Cannondale-Garmin team, which is an American professional cycling team. Farrar rode for Cannondale-Garmin for seven years. MTN-Qhubeka is a rather new team.
Farrar is currently competing in the Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista del Sol. According to Farrar, he hasn’t had to encounter any problem yet. He expressed his excitement at being able to ride for his new team. He is also excited at the opportunities he would have this year. Farrar has said that he is completely fit. He also said that his physical condition is as good as it was last year at the beginning of the season. Farrar regards that probably his condition is better now compared to what it was the year before.
On 18th February this year he became the winner of the second place on the Herald Sun Tour’s third stage. The race was held in Australia. He also got the fifth place in the Vuelta a Andalucia’s morning road race which was also held on Wednesday. The American cyclist regards the Vuelta a Andalucia race to be a race in which the riders who are good mountain climbers have the edge. Farrar thinks that he might be able to sprint on some parts of this race. Farrar considers that there indeed is a possibility that the team will be able to win the race. He said that the team will definitely try to secure victory.
