Tyler Farrar the Garmin Sharp rider avoids a win-less season and it is his first victory in World Tour after his stage win in 2011 at Tour De France. He had a great acceleration in the bunch sprint to win the third stage of Tour of Beijing.
Caleb Ewan had started to kick off from the bunch but soon from the right side Tyler fired his way and passed his competitors and very comfortably secured his position.
The longest stage of the tour had taken seven categorized climbs. Cabel Ewan regretted on having started very early in the sprint. At the front of a long turn Daryl Impey had seemingly put himself in the best position that was possible for him. Edvald Boasson Hagen and Ben Swift had followed Evan and positioned themselves well. However Ben Swift soon lost his position, and left the Edvald Boasson Hagen to contest the sprint.
Tyler waited for the right time to seize the opportunity of ending the year with a high which had initially had no wins for him. The American, out-sprinted Luka Mezgec of Giant Shimano the stage winner to take the honor for the day.
In the third stage there were no issues of smog that had previously been there. Since the beginning of the race a good pace had been set. A breakaway was established when Michal Golas and Julian Alaphilippe the Omega Pharma Quickstep were enjoying a numerical advantage. Golas was a little ahead on the descent but waited for his companions and there was another small group right behind them. Impey and Ewan were in the front when they passed the flamme rouge, while Mezgec came forward on the wheel of Reinardt Janse van Rensburg. Despite of everything, Farrar still well back at the point passed all his opponents and won the stage on day three.
